I knew nothing of my Fathers family and was desperate to find out. Do you know if Arthur son of Alfred Allen ever had a girl born to them I have traced another boy Albert William born 1918. Caroline Lancaster 22 Apr 2008		Looking for Ancestors Hello Janet Alfred Allen Eldridge was baptised at Battle parish church on 6 April 1856, son of Emery Eldridge and Emily (maiden name Wood). Emery and Emily married at Battle parish church on 9 September 1843. Emery Eldridge was baptised at Battle on 22 December 1822, son of Thomas Eldridge and Elizabeth (maiden name not known). My gr gr grandfather is Samuel Eldridge (bap Battle 22 February 1790), brother of your Thomas Eldridge (bap Battle 10 March 1780). They were sons of William Eldridge and Sarah Potter. So, we're distant cousins! I have lots of info on Eldridges at Battle so happy to help further. Kind regards Caroline

Gordon Ferguson 13 Apr 2008		Pictures of Westfield Just to clarify the two pictures that have been put up under the village of Westfield, the main picture was taken in 2007, the alternative picture was taken in 1965, showing a Denhams bus at the bus stop opposite what used to be Henson's Stores. Buller 6 Mar 2008		Local History Can you put me on to someone who knows the backgound in the 1920s to Westfield Place - I was born there in 1927 when my father was groom to the then residents. Andrew Eldridge 3 Feb 2008		Looking for Ancestors Hi Stephen, Sory for delay in response to your Question. E-Mail probs. I have looked in to this and come to the same conclusion as others. I beleive your Edwards wife ,Jenny, may have died sometime between 1778 and 1786 and Edward may have re married Phebe Hook at Sedlescimbe 12/5/1787.This is one theory . The other is, Edward and Jenny may have moved away to a new Parrish and Phebe Hook Married a different Edward Eldridge. Good Luck Andrew

Nicholas Ray 7 Jan 2008		Looking for Ancestors Hi Noreen. Thanks to ruth Carter of westfield I have been able to go back to Edward Ray who married Sarah Burgess in 1793. That's all we know about Richard. Have reached a halt. I have just engaged the E.S.Records office to see if they can find his baptism and parents. I don't hold out much hope.
